Glutathione is a crucial molecule in our cells, helping to balance the body's response to oxidative stress and inflammation. Diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart conditions, cancer, and even COVID-19, share a common thread—increased oxidative stress, leading to lowered glutathione levels and inflammation (Labarrere CA, Kassab GS, 2022).

Glutathione helps in two primary ways: maintaining the right level of oxidative stress for healthy cellular functions and preventing cell and tissue damage from excessive stress.

Glutathione depletion may play a central role in inflammatory diseases and COVID-19 pathophysiology, host immune response and disease severity and mortality.

The researchers put emphases on glutathione depletion as a fundamental risk factor for diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and atherosclerosis (ischemic heart disease and stroke), and the significance of glutathione counteracting persistent damaging inflammation.

As a supplement S-Acetyl Glutathione gets into the cells and is effective. The more common form on the market reduced glutathione, is not as effective because a lot of it is oxidized in the stomach.
