Heart rate and the need for oxygen is reduced when exercising by taking fish oil.
Numerous benefits of omega 3 fish oil have already been documented. The newly published study reviewed here reveal even more amazing benefits. This investigation evaluated oxygen consumption and heart rate in sixteen well-trained male cyclists after taking 8 ‘1 g fish oil capsules daily for 8 weeks (Peoples GE, et al, 2008). The fish oil supplementation lowered both peak heart rate and steady-state submaximal exercise heart rate as well as whole-body oxygen consumption when compared to values before supplementation. The participants cycled on a cycle ergometer. The control group took olive oil capsules and no changes were seen in that group. The researchers concluded that fish oil may act within the heart and skeletal muscle to reduce both whole-body and myocardial oxygen demand during exercise without decreasing performance. At BioPro, Inc. we are using “Better Fish Oil” high quality fish oil capsules. To order log on to www.TissueRecovery.com or call us at 800-883-1252.
