Research on green tea consumption has shown many health benefits. The study reviewed here investigated if drinking green tea possibly could prevent disability in older individuals (Tomata Y, et al. 2012)
13,988 individuals aged 65 years or older were included in the research. The ones who drank the most tea received the most benefits according to this data. The benefits increased gradually as the participants increased consumption from 1-2 cups a day, to 3-4 cups and up to 5 or more cups daily.
The participants who drank 5 or more cups per day had the least functional disability and the conclusion of the study was that green tea consumption is significantly associated with a lower risk of functional disability.
According to this data just by including green tea in your daily routine you can improve your odds for being functional as you get older.
