Take Vitamin D and Live Longer

It may sound too good to be true that supplementing with vitamin D will extend your life. Nevertheless, that is what a study including 57,311 participants showed (Autier P., Gandini S, 2007).

Results from observational studies suggest that low vitamin D status could be associated with increased risk of dying from conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes which account for 60% to 70% of total mortality in high-income countries.

The particular study referred to here, examined the risk of dying from any cause in subjects who had participated in randomized trials testing the impact of vitamin D supplementation. Eighteen independent randomized controlled trials were included in this particular study with a total of 57,311 participants.

When completed the researchers came to the amazing conclusion that intake of ordinary doses of vitamin D supplements seem to be associated with a decrease in total mortality rates.

Vitamin D is very important and there is more and more evidence for all of the things it can affect. Most of the patients I have tested have been too low in vitamin D, and that is here in southern California. It is recommended to take between 1000 and 2000 IU of vitamin D3 daily on a regular basis. Also when you have a chance, spend some time in the sun without any sunscreen, but don’t overdo it.

For more information on vitamin D and to order vitamin D3 and the BMJ formula which also contains vitamin D3, log on to www.tissuerecovery.com or call 1-800-883-1252.

Wishing you the best of health,

Didrik
